Hey Crime fiction writers. Here’s an oft-cited reference chart to show you what different bullets look like going in and coming out.

why are they so big coming out that is the reaI question 

at the point of exit the bullet is going much slower needing more time to exit thus making more of a mess upon exit, and then there’s the fact that some bullets upon contact don’t remain intact.
